Wire
Born in 1978, Erwan Wire alias Wire 978 is a French artist from urban culture.
Passionate about painting and illustration, he immersed himself very early in the world of comics.
It was upon his arrival in the Paris region that he discovered a real interest in Graffiti and Street Art.
After studying in the Faculty of Fine Arts and training in Schools of Applied Arts, he joined an Advertising Marketing agency as a Graphic Designer / Illustrator.
A prolific and multidisciplinary artist, he participates in numerous artistic and socio-cultural events in France and across Europe (Germany, Belgium, Burkina Faso, Canada, Spain, Portugal….)
Inspired by Action painting and Calligraphy, his very spontaneous work is based on energy and movement. He mixes his inspirations with the purest traditions of Graffiti on the wall, but also on different mediums of expression (Canvas, Zinc, Wood, Plexiglass, glass, clay …) allowing him to experiment with new creative techniques.
In a different approach from what he can achieve in the street, in his workshop he presents a more abstract universe, favoring rhythm and body language. A combination of lines, curves and colors that give a musical and dynamic sense to his compositions. The body being an integral part of the work, he constantly navigates between painting and music and continues to juggle with words as with colors.
